STV Young Professionals Honored Coast to Coast by ENR

Four STV early-career professionals were recently named to Engineering News-Record’s prestigious Top Young Professionals program in their respective regions. The annual contest highlights rising leaders within the architectural, engineering and construction industry who have demonstrated outstanding experience and education; career and industry leadership; and community service and involvement.

The four STV top young professionals are:

Each of the four are automatically entered into ENR’s National Top 20 Under 40 contest. National winners will be announced in February. Here’s a closer look at each of STV’s regional winners:

Dakota Gross

Gross is a transportation and environmental planner in our Los Angeles office. She serves as the STV deputy project manager for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) Gender Action Plan (GAP), which evaluates the needs of female riders and marginalized genders through its public transportation system. Gross also provides project management support and environmental services on major projects throughout Southern California, including the Los Angeles Metro Brighton to Roxford Double Track project, Riverside County Transportation Commission Metrolink Station Improvements March Airforce Base/Moreno Valley and the Los Angeles Metro Purple Line Subway Extension Sections 2 and 3.

Joshua Lehman

Joshua Lehman

Lehman is a lead mechanical engineer in STV’s Philadelphia office. Among his current highlights is leading the mechanical design of a new compressed natural gas bus maintenance facility in Hazleton, PA. Lehman also provided mechanical design services for the new 30,000-square-foot Maryland Area Regional Commuter Riverside train maintenance facility in Baltimore. He has been in the military since joining the Reserve Officer Training Corps in college and deployed to Iraq and Kuwait in 2016-17 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He currently serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Amar Maniar

Amar Maniar

Maniar is a senior electrical engineer in STV’s New York office. He is currently leading the electrical resource planning and management for the New York City Housing Authority and New York City School Construction Authority. Maniar attained full professional member status with the UK Institute of Engineering & Technology and is a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council. He has experience on several projects throughout the U.K., Middle East and Africa. Additionally, Maniar is a senior member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers and is involved with its Energy Policy Committee. He is an active participant with the ACE (Architecture Construction Engineering) Mentor Program.

Maurice Roberts

Maurice Roberts

Roberts leads resilience and other design services for bridges and ancillary structures for an array of clients that includes the New York State Department of Transportation, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. He has more than 16 years of experience performing structural analysis and design services, condition inspections, hydraulic assessments, and feasibility studies. As a former mentee, Roberts is a current member of STV’s ACE Mentor Program of Greater New York City team and has been a member of the Young Professionals Steering Committee of the New York Building Congress (NYBC) since 2017. Early in 2020, Roberts rose to the position of committee co-chair.
