STV Digital Advisory Lead Kristen Van Gilst, PMP, CCM, was recently elected to serve as vice president on the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Charlotte Metro Chapter’s 2023-24 Executive Board.
“I look forward to stepping into this role and working with my fellow Executive Board members to strengthen the transportation industry,” Van Gilst said. “I first joined the WTS Greater New York Chapter as a college student at the recommendation of a mentor. After moving to Charlotte and being eager to get involved at the local level, I joined the WTS Charlotte Metro Chapter. Its members have been incredible in welcoming me into their community.”
In her STV Advisory Services role, Van Gilst leverages her AEC industry data expertise to develop digital tools and process improvement solutions. Her focus has been on discovering innovative ways to drive valuable insights for both internal and external stakeholders through data-driven lenses.
“WTS has been a great way for me to learn about the impact our industry has on the world,” she added. “My experiences with both chapters have exposed me to a diverse set of disciplines that work collectively to advance transportation.”
Van Gilst’s professional experience includes project and program management, primarily on large-scale design-build programs. She managed the design and engineering coordination and stakeholder engagement for a multibillion-dollar capital program and worked on disaster recovery construction projects.
In addition to her role with WTS, Van Gilst sits on the Construction Advisory Council at Purdue University, the Technology Subcommittee for the Construction Management Association of America, serves as a mentor in the ACE (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering) Mentor Program of Charlotte, and is a regional judge for the global Future City Competition.
