Website Strives to Inspire Future Architects

Nov 30, 2020

A new website developed by Those Amazing Professionals (TAP), will focus on building the next generation of architects. TAP is a nonprofit organization that produces innovative and engaging print and digital content geared towards educating middle and high school students about careers in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields.

The site,, was created with funding and support from major design firms, including STV, as well as design and construction industry associations, that have partnered with TAP over the years. Linda Rosenberg, STV’s senior vice president of marketing and communications, serves on TAP’s board of directors.

Through the website, students can learn what courses and extracurriculars to take in high school as well as what to expect from architecture school. A series of videos feature early career architects sharing candid thoughts and experiences. The site also includes content about how architects are problem solvers and how they fit into the overall project development process. For historical perspective, the site highlights some of the architectural greats, ranging from antiquity to the modern era, while also showcasing design projects of the future.

According to TAP’s website, despite the tremendous role architects play in the development of society, there were approximately 110,000 registered architects in the U.S. (per the 2016 Survey of Architectural Registration Boards), and approximately 17,000 combined bachelor’s and master’s degrees conferred in architecture in 2014-15, less than 1 percent of all bachelor’s and master’s degrees conferred that year (National Center for Education Statistics). in addition to, TAP has also developed a series of publications including Those Amazing Engineers and Those Amazing Builders, to engage middle and high school students.
