Vice President Takes on CMAA National Chairmanship

Jan 21, 2022

With more than 30 years of service to the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), including officer positions in his local New York/New Jersey chapter and at the national level, Raoul Ilaw, P.E., CCM, FCMAA, vice president, and senior program manager is kicking off the new year with a new challenge.

2022 marks the beginning of Ilaw’s tenure as chairman of the Board of Governors for CMAA National’s Construction Management Certification Institute (CMCI), a one-year position that follows two years of service as secretary and vice chairman.

“STV has always been a big supporter of CMAA. There’s great value in joining an organization of like-minded peers,” Ilaw said of his latest role. “You make tremendous contacts and can network across the country. Competitors become partners, strangers become clients or future employees.”

A chief priority of the national board of governors will be to continue mentoring and preparing professionals to take the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) exam, a designation that provides a competitive advantage for STV.

“Having employees with that designation really separates us from other firms,” Ilaw said. “I use my experiences at STV to develop new exam questions that are created and reviewed each year.”
