Demonstrative of STV’s rapid growth in Tennessee, Brad Winkler, P.E., vice president and regional manager, was elected to the Board of Directors for the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) – Tennessee Valley Section, for the 2022-23 session.
Winkler, and other officers and board directors, were honored during the Tennessee Valley Section’s first in-person gathering since before the pandemic.
ASHE’s Tennessee Valley Section – which represents Eastern Tennessee including Chattanooga, where STV recently opened a new office – was founded only a few years ago. In just a short amount of time, the section has grown exponentially and was celebrated in May at ASHE’s National Conference with the Gene G. Smith Award, which is presented to the section with the largest number of new members within the current fiscal years.
Winkler, who was a founding member of ASHE’s Middle Tennessee Section in 2005 along with Larry Ridlen, P.E., a senior engineer in our Franklin, TN, office, is excited by this opportunity to play a key part of another growing organization in “The Volunteer State.” Additionally, Winkler has served as the Middle Tennessee Section’s Chapter President, ASHE’s National Director, and co-chair of the 2019 ASHE National Conference in Nashville.
“We’re getting involved in the Tennessee Valley at a great time for the section. It’s a growing area, which is also indicative of why STV recently opened a new office in Chattanooga,” Winkler said. “We’re very passionate about ASHE’s mission to promote the transportation industry within Tennessee.”
ASHE’s mission is to procure and share the latest data on the techniques and methods in planning, design, construction, and maintenance of highways and other transportation facilities. Many of the section’s members include representatives for one of our primary clients in the state, the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
“STV’s involvement in organizations like ASHE helps to build the firm’s brand, and better connects us to our clients and competitors,” Winkler said.
