Breanna Gribble

STV senior resilience manager Breanna Gribble, CHMM, ENV SP, WEGD, WELL AP, Fitwel Ambassador, recently showcased STV’s thought leadership in resiliency and sustainability at two major industry events.

In Pittsburgh, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) held a “Resilience Planning and Implementation” workshop focused on sustainability operations, scheduling and planning. Gribble spoke on the four-person panel about how to measure resilience and the differences between outcomes-oriented resilience and process-oriented resilience. Attendees of the event also discussed the importance of bringing people back to transit and boosting ridership numbers in a post-Covid 19 world by providing clean, safe, comfortable vehicles and facilities.

At the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) event, held in Dallas, Brianna tackled the topic of emergency preparedness and resiliency, sharing how STV advises municipal clients about the decision-making methodology they can use to enhance the resilience of their cities.

“STV brought a fresh perspective to the conversation in Texas,” she said.  “In New York we face similar hazards. Flooding is a big hazard in that region, particularly along the Gulf Coast. Extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, are another big topic for Texas. Attendees were really receptive to learn about the projects we’re doing with clients in the Northeast.”

At both the APTA and SAME events, there were many conversations about how the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is allocating funds for resilience and sustainability projects, Gribble said.

STV’s resilience teams are poised to assist clients to lower their non-federal match by developing resilience improvement programs in the planning phase. Our resilience group also provides architectural and engineering services for resilience improvement projects funded under the Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-saving Transportation (PROTECT) Program.
