LA Metro Zero-Emissions Bus Program

Following a mandate by the California Air Resources Board for state bus fleets to transition to 100% zero emissions by 2040, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro), which oversees the third-largest bus fleet in North America, initiated a holistic zero emissions transformation of its bus infrastructure.

In concert with this policy, LA Metro is undergoing an ambitious plan to transition the agency’s entire bus fleet and bus maintenance facilities from compressed natural gas to zero-emission technology.

STV, as part of the ZEBGO Partners joint venture, is providing extensive technical consulting support services. The firm is assisting in the development of a zero-emissions master plan, evaluating existing infrastructure for integration needs and investigating potential funding opportunities to support this plan. The team is also advising on the placement of in-route bus chargers and bus routes while performing schedule and life cycle analyses for all emerging relevant technologies.
