New Cyber Facility Opens in Texas

May 2, 2019

Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMC) recently revealed its latest cyber facility in San Antonio, TX, a project that came to fruition thanks to the design expertise of STV.

The 15,000-square-foot office, located in San Antonio’s Project Tech complex, was transformed into a secure workspace, including labs to develop new cyber tools and platforms. LMC anticipates that over the next five years, the new space will enable the company to hire more than 100 cyber professionals in San Antonio to meet the growing needs of the U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence communities.

“STV has a long-standing relationship with LMC and its cyber capabilities and pursuits, so we were able to seamlessly collaborate with them to help deliver a new facility they can be proud of,” said Steven Rothenberger, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, associate and senior project manager. “Cyber security is obviously a constantly evolving area, so our priority was to develop a design that was flexible and adaptable for LMC’s short- and long-term goals.”

We performed a range of design and post-design services for this project. Once LMC moved forward its plan to convert the space into its newest cyber facility, STV surveyed the space to verify existing dimensions, layout features and other building elements before preparing detailed design drawings and specifications. STV has long provided support to LMC and its cyber team. Prior to the San Antonio facility, the firm provided engineering and architectural design for a 56,000 square-foot secure workspace in Annapolis Junction, MD, known as LMC’s “Cyber Center of Excellence.”
