Ron Deverman, CEP, vice president, and national director for environmental planning, is no stranger to leadership positions within the industry.

He was a founding board director of the International Professional Association for Transport & Health in 2015, and a past president and board director of both the Illinois Association of Environmental Professionals (IAEP) and the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP), as well as an NAEP fellow.

Now, Deverman’s latest appointment will give him an opportunity to give back to the next generation of environmental professionals. He was recently selected by the Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals (ABCEP) to join its board of trustees. In this position, which is a four-year term, Deverman will address the organization’s goals of increasing mentorship opportunities, assist with members receiving their Certified Environmental Professionals (CEP) registrations, and champion award scholarships.

“With more than 37 years in the industry, I want to prioritize giving back to younger professionals,” Deverman said. “I’m incredibly honored and excited to work with future environmental professionals. It’s so important for them to get certified in this field so they can better serve our industry as well as our communities.”

The ABCEP is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to the highest standard of professional ethics. The organization aspires to improve environmental practice standards, coach candidates for certification, and maintain the integrity of CEPs.
