STV employees across multiple states recently participated in community events to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and support programs.

Strolling Through Central Park

Our New York City and Newark teams had a great turnout to support the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Central Park. Fundraising efforts like this help ACS fund breast cancer research, provide free information and support, and help people reduce their breast cancer risk through education and early detection when it may be more treatable.

“Our team members were proud to participate in this impactful and fun event,” said James Perise, P.E., vice president and chief plumbing engineer. “More than 50 employees turned out to represent as STV and helped us raise over $3,600 for ACS and celebrated alongside our teammates and community members during the 4-mile walk around Central Park.”

“It was great to see us come together – with our friends and families – to make our community better,” said Maurice Roberts, P.E., principal and engineering director. “Events like this are great ways for STV to foster camaraderie among employees and make a difference in the lives of others.”

Riding the Rails

Employees from our Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. teams recently pedaled with purpose for the Virginia Railway Express Tour de VRE bike ride. The event was designed to raise awareness of triple-negative breast cancer and help fund research.

STV was proud to partner with our partners at VRE by participating in the ride and manning a refreshment station along the route. The event concluded with a lunch party, where Sebastian Silvestro, project manager, who manages one of several STV contracts with VRE, shared his DJ skills.

“VRE is an important partner to STV,” said Kristin White, P.E., CCM, principal and engineering director. “We have delivered many design and construction management projects together over the last 30 years, and were proud to participate in this event.”
